Standard Scaffolding Limited – Terms & Conditions
Within these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions shall apply:
‘SSL’ – Shall mean SSL Standard Scaffolding Ltd.
‘Client’ – Shall mean the person, partnership, company or organisation named within the SSL Quotation. ‘Site’ – Shall mean the site or property identified within SSL Quotation.
‘The Project’ – Shall mean the work to be carried out by SSL at the Site within the SSL Quotation.
- The scaffolding will be on hire for a period which will be confirmed when you accept a quotation and this period will commence upon completion of the installation of the scaffold. If the scaffold is still required after the hire period has expired, then extra hire charge will start at a rate of 6.88% of the quoted price per week. Please note that extra hire is based on availability and will only be granted if the equipment isn’t required elsewhere. This is at the discretion of SSL.
- Any alterations to the scaffold may only be done by a competent qualified person who works for SSL. It is strictly prohibited that any other person tampers with the scaffolding as this will void the public liability insurance.
- Roof Saddles (for chimney stacks, dormer windows, etc) or bridges over tiled roofs. When it’s setting out the scaffolding on top of a tiled/ slate roof please be aware that breakages may occur. SSL operatives will do their best to keep this to a minimum but unfortunately most of the time it is unavoidable. SSL will not be held financially responsible for replacing broken tiles/slates, however our operatives will be happy to install any replacement tiles/slates that you provide with you during the dismantling process, only if it is safe to do so.
- When working in proximity to solar panels, SSL will take all reasonable precautions to avoid damage. However, SSL shall not be held liable for any damage that may occur to solar panels during the course of the works.
- Cutting/damaging of equipment. The cutting or damaging of SSL’s scaffolding equipment is strictly prohibited. If at any point we discover that our equipment has been cut or damaged, you will be invoiced for the full retail value + VAT of the item in question. We also retain the right to keep the cut items.
- Once scaffolding and other equipment supplied by SSL arrives and is erected at the Site, the cost arising from any damage caused to the equipment by any other party not associated with SSL shall be chargeable to the Client. (This does not apply to reasonable wear and tear).
- The Client shall be liable for any scaffolding or other equipment supplied by SSL and on hire, which is stolen or unlawfully removed from the Site
- All scaffolding and other equipment supplied by SSL in relation to the Project is on a hire basis and shall therefore at all times remain the property of SSL
- Once the scaffolding and/or other equipment has been erected for the Client any adaptations required that are not described in the original SSL Quotation will be subject to further costs. Therefore, a quotation will be provided for any adaptation required.
- SSL will ensure that all structures are sound and constructed for the purpose required by the Client and comply with all applicable Statutory Regulations. The Client is responsible to ensure any modifications or adaptions are only made by SSL. SSL shall not be liable for any damage or injury caused resulting from modifications or adaptions made by any other parties other than SSL.
- The SSL Quotation will state the hire period included in the costs and any extra hire will be charged on a weekly basis with an amount agreed by both the Client and SSL.
- It is the responsibility of the Client to ensure all personnel working on the equipment supplied by SSL are adequately trained and skilled to do so. SSL shall not be responsible for any injuries/damage sustained or caused by any personnel other than SSL personnel.
- SSL will ensure that all structures are sound and constructed for the purpose required by the Client and comply with all applicable Statutory Regulations. However, SSL shall not be responsible for any damage caused or injury sustained as a result of unreasonable stresses and loading of scaffolding not specified in the Hand Over Certificate signed by SSL.
- Payment terms are 30 days from date of invoice unless otherwise agreed with SSL.
- SSL can in its absolute discretion charge interest at the rate of 8% per annum on the balance of any monies that are not paid within 30 days from the date of invoice.
- The Client grants an irrevocable licence to SSL to enter onto the Site at any time for the purpose of collecting scaffolding and any other equipment supplied for the Project. In the event that the Client, or any associated company, enters administration or bankruptcy—whether voluntary or involuntary—SSL shall have full permission to enter any locked or unlocked premises as necessary to recover all materials and equipment supplied in relation to the Project.
- Scaff tags are an optional service used for 7-day or after any adverse weather inspections. If the client does not take up this service, it is the scaffold user’s/hirer’s responsibility to ensure that all scaffolding has been inspected by a competent person once the scaffold has been handed over. SSL accepts no liability for inspections or maintenance after handover.
- 18. All tie holes created during the erection of scaffolding shall be made good by others upon completion of the works. SSL accepts no responsibility for reinstatement or repair of tie holes.
- All invoiced amounts must be paid on or before the payment terms stated on the invoice. Failure to comply with these terms will result in interest being applied to the outstanding balance at a rate of the base rate plus 4%.
- Where scaffolding is erected in the vicinity of satellite dishes, aerials, or similar equipment, the presence of the scaffold may affect signal reception. Any loss or interruption of reception shall be the responsibility of the Main Contractor or the property owner. Such interference shall not be deemed damage or a fault attributable to SSL.
- Where any equipment is hired or provided for use on the Site, including but not limited to hoists, generators, scaffolding, lighting, alarms, and fencing, such equipment shall be used entirely at the risk of the contractor utilising it. The contractor using the equipment shall be solely responsible for its care and security and shall be liable for the cost of repair or replacement in the event of loss or damage.
Health and safety: All our work will comply with the health and safety at work act of 1974, and we will abide by all the regulations set out by our governing body the NASC. Code of conduct: all our operatives will adhere to our strict code of conduct including good manners, no bad language and they will be helpful and polite. Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) and NASC TG20:13 compliance sheets are available upon acceptance of this quotation if requested.
By accepting a Quotation or instructing SSL to commence work, the Client confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions in full. These Terms and Conditions shall take precedence over any alternative terms put forward by the Client.
